So in the end, Guggenheim and his team came to the consensus that the pair need some time off, as bringing them back to the team as soon as the the beginning of Season 2 felt premature. That said, fans can rest assured knowing Season 1s final episode planted some very significant flags in terms of what the new concept of the show will be in Season 2. The producer is referring to a Justice Society of America hint that was dropped at the end of the episode. The plan is to have a rotating cast of heroes going forward, making Legends of Tomorrow distinct season to season, not only in terms of the composition of the team but also in terms of mission statements. According to Guggenheim, the mission statement for the shows heroes in Season 2 will be more compelling but also more streamlined than Season 1.
